Tips for Meeting Planners: Managing Stress and Your Mental Health

by Denise Irving | May 12, 2021

While May is Mental Health Awareness Month, we know that a healthy state of mind is vitally important to our overall well-being year-round. Even when the world is “normal” we deal with a lot of different forms of stress, anxiety, and depression. Bring on a global pandemic and BOOM, it’s stress on steroids!

It is known that event planners have one of the most stressful careers EVER, and when we’re stressed/excited/overwhelmed at work it spills over into our private lives and vice versa.

Our industry is one of excitement, chaos, and constant change. Despite the stress, it continues to keep you engaged. Maybe it’s the adrenaline rush of all the last-minute changes, meeting new and innovative keynote speakers, or the satisfaction of having your finger on the pulse of creating memorable experiences for your organization.

Regardless of the reason…here you are! So, thank you for all you do. You are an incredible force who makes a huge impact and we appreciate you so much! Our goal is to focus on how we can best partner with you to lift some of the burdens and help make your events LESS stressful and more AMAZING.

We work on the task force for the Events Industry Council to help bring planners this Workforce and Wellness Guide that serves as the industry standard for resources and practices around health and well-being.

With meeting planners in mind, socialtables compiled a thoughtful list of 16 Must-Know Mental Health Ideas for Planners, we hope you can find a few useful tools to add to your stress-reducing toolkit.

Securing the best keynote is paramount to a successful event, so we created a free downloadable infographic detailing the benefits of working with non-exclusive speaker bureaus. It’s a great tool to help you whether you’ve been in the biz for 5 weeks, 5 years, or longer.

We leave you with a short video from our amazing friend and stage stealer, Ben Nemtin, who shares three ways to reduce anxiety. If you know Ben, he has an incredible story of success and triumph, but it didn’t come easy. Take a listen and get inspired.

We know that when May ends, the importance of mental health doesn’t. If you’re looking to bring a top keynote speaker to your next event, we work with leaders in health and wellness, stress management, and overcoming adversity.
